Lets get the date at least locked in.  Shawn said he is good with June 3 to June 9.  Does that work for you guys Nathan & Nick?

Or is that too many days? The 3rd would be a drive day, the 4th through the 8th days at the house, and the 9th a drive day.  That would be 5 days at the house, is that too many in one place?  We could shorten it up by leaving on Saturday the 4th instead or come back on the 8th.  Either way works for me, I'd just like to get dates set then we can move forward with accommodations.

I like just leaving on the Saturday (4th) as well...as far as the return I am good with either the 8th or 9th. I have gotten work to move the June trip to KC to the following week,  so no conflicts there.

Nick was over tonight and we talked it over a little.  I explained that the blue 2 bedroom house is actually more expensive than this one I had listed:
"Out of town, but on tar.  Can use the garage.  5 bedrooms:"

I had just listed the blue 2 bedroom one along with the hotel just as an example so I wasn't really paying attention to the price that closely for the house.  The hotel was reasonable but the house is actually quite expensive for a 2 bedroom.

So for less money than the blue house we would have a 5 bedroom house with a garage.  I think I talked him into it  ;D

Since I posted the out of town 5 bedroom one, it has been booked for June 9 & 10.  So if we want it we will have to shift our dates.  I do think it is a pretty good value at roughly $1381 for the entire 5 night stay.  Divide that 4 ways for $345.25 each person and divide again by 5 for the nights and it would be just under $70 per night per person.  We would have to leave on Friday the 3rd, do day trips the 4th through the 7th (4 days) and leave on Wednesday the 8th.

If those days work and everyone likes the house and price I think we should get on booking it.  Let me know and if we all agree I can book it.

Hey 2wheel riders, I messed up big time!  It's my dad's 80th birthday that week in June for this cycle trip and I forgot about all that.  Would it be alright to push this motorcycle trip into July???!!  Yo, you picking up what I am throwing down?!  Thanks

July dates that work for me would be:

July 23 through the 28th
July 30 through the August 4th

The house that we were looking at isn't available any weekends in July or August, but we can pick out a date and then search for accommodations after we lock in a date.

Nickoli,

No problem man!  I was also about to write that I forgot my nephews (godson) graduation is on June 5th...so I was just going to propose we go in July or August.

It looks like I may have a work trip the week of July 18th-22nd...so I should be good with Russ' dates.

That's confirm the dates ASAP, so nothing else decides to creep up or because we are getting old we forget!  ;D

Good deal, lets plan on that since it works for everyone!

July 23rd through through July 28th.

I'll look around for accommodations for that date range.

Well I'm not coming up with much for places to stay in the UP.  This place inst as far into Michigan as I was originally looking, but it fits well for the price, garage & bedrooms:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/608652725733340665?check_in=2022-07-23&check_out=2022-07-28&adults=4&children=0&infants=0&source_impression_id=p3_1651714812_W2uwv5tjsERvDtdd

It has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths.  I messaged the owner and they said we could use the garage.  It would be roughly $55 per night per person.

The distance from Hoffman is 313 miles.  A day trip to copper harbor (the northern tip) would be 155 miles.

That's about all I could find.  The other option would be to break the stay up between two places, that might open up more orortunities.

Let me know what you guys think or if you have any other suggested places.

Could visit Duluth from there and the north shore drive!

Yes, this location might actually be better than up north in the tip for our 4 days of day trips.  Wouldn't have to go south when leaving and then back north again when coming back.  Lots of lake shore to see!

What if we stayed in that area for a night or two then go further East and see the North shoreline of Lake Michigan or maybe Mackinac Island then head back home.

I like the place and I like the idea of popping up to Duluth...but I think maybe breaking up the stay makes more sense and I would like to get over to that original area by Copper Harbor.  I know 155 miles doesn't seem far, and it isn't, but google is stating that will take over 3hrs one-way, that makes for a little more tight day trip?!

Also, I have always wanted to go to Mackinac Island!  I just wonder if that is getting a little too far for what we had originally discussed about keeping it short and utilizing less fuel, etc., as well as staying in one place for the duration.  It would be 716 miles for me one-way to St. Ignace, MI.  I am game if others are!  It could be cool to hydro-jet ferry out to the island one day and stay overnight on the island for one night and ferry back the next day.

I am torn here, because on one hand I really want to go to Mackinac Island but I really was looking forward to staying in one place for the length of the trip.

Thoughts?!

Russ, can you work your magic and see how this could lay out stay/locations wise for these options?

I did see this; http://www.thelogcabinn.com/
