New Buell Tires!?
« on: June 08, 2008, 09:04:13 pm »
Hey Doggs!  I thought I would ask your guys opinion; I think I have narrowed it down to 3 tires: the Avon ST's, the Michelin Pilot Road 2's, and of course the ones I have now the Conti Road Attacks.  Please see what you guys can come up with on reviews.  I have found the reviews on these tires to be very good.  I believe the pricing goes (cheapiest to most expensive) the Conti's, Avon's, and Michelin's.
I have attached the tread patterns, so you can see the look of the tires as well.  Gotta keep the Buell lookin' good!

Okay boys, later on.

Well, I would say the Conti's would be your best bet if you are planning on getting rid of the bike within their wear time (5-6k miles??)  Otherwise, looking at the results of the PR 2's, I would think you might be able to get almost 10,000 out of them on your bike.  The dudes on the FJR site are getting 9,000 out of them:

With your bike being lighter would probably be even better mileage.  Also when comparing prices, keep in mind the mounting price too.  If the tire lasts longer, you wont have to be spending money on mounting as often either.  But yea, if you will be trading the bike off soon, then why buy tires for the next guy.

Either way you go, you will get a good tire.  It just comes down to mileage.

Good luck in your decision!

i would definitely go with something round and rubberized, something that will last about 12,ooo mi.  i drive a yamaha sofa king and my tires last like they came of the old john deere tractor!!!!  heck go to your local implement dealer and see what they can do for your bike.
