Works for me. I think this is a better overall location for getting to Copper Harbor and new points east.
I too will also chip in extra for a bedroom, if you are truly okay with staying on a couch or air mattress Nick, but I guess I would also be open to swapping during the trip if your feelings change.
And if anyone wants to move on I agree the rate is decent enough for splitting two ways instead of four...

Actually the house isn't in Copper Harbor, but would be in driving distance.  I think we should pass on the house that I had proposed.  The guy is being a little shady about answering my questions.  There isn't AC and the place is a duplex, so the outside spaces are shared and he wont answer me about the other half of the house.

I found a different place that could work.  The listing didn't mention a garage but the lady said we could use it for our bikes and was super nice and answered my questions quickly.  It only has 3 bedrooms and 3 beds but there are 2 couches and an air mattress in the living room.  If I chip in a little extra would you be ok with me taking a bedroom Nick?  :D

This place is actually located north a little further toward Copper Harbor, so it wouldn't be such push to get there and back for a day trip.  And if a couple of you want to travel east further for a few days it is reasonable enough that it would be affordable split 2 ways and we'd be there for one last stay before going home if you want.

Split 4 ways it would be roughly $68 per person per night.

Let me know if you guys are onboard and if so I'll get it booked.

I like the idea of staying in copper harbor, if their is a descion for a couple of us to travel further for a couple days and come back to house I would be up for that.

Russell, I am with you then...lets just stay somewhere the whole trip and do day trips.  I would definitely like to get up to Copper Harbor area, after that I am pretty open.

I kind of think if we go to Mackinac Island maybe we should have at least another day or so...otherwise we are pretty much taking everything with us each day, not really staying anywhere too long.

What do the rest of you gentlemen think?!

Something like this?

Saturday July 23 - Home to Ironwood
Sunday July 24 - Day trip around Ironwood
Monday July 25 - Ironwood to somewhere by Mackinac Island
Tuesday July 26 - Day trip around Somewhere by Mackinac Island
Wednesday July 27 - Day 1 going home
Thursday July 28 - Day 2 final leg home

My vote would be to just stay at one place and do day trips, but I'm open to multi stops if thats what the rest of the group would like to do.

I like the place and I like the idea of popping up to Duluth...but I think maybe breaking up the stay makes more sense and I would like to get over to that original area by Copper Harbor.  I know 155 miles doesn't seem far, and it isn't, but google is stating that will take over 3hrs one-way, that makes for a little more tight day trip?!

Also, I have always wanted to go to Mackinac Island!  I just wonder if that is getting a little too far for what we had originally discussed about keeping it short and utilizing less fuel, etc., as well as staying in one place for the duration.  It would be 716 miles for me one-way to St. Ignace, MI.  I am game if others are!  It could be cool to hydro-jet ferry out to the island one day and stay overnight on the island for one night and ferry back the next day.

I am torn here, because on one hand I really want to go to Mackinac Island but I really was looking forward to staying in one place for the length of the trip.

Thoughts?!

Russ, can you work your magic and see how this could lay out stay/locations wise for these options?

I did see this; http://www.thelogcabinn.com/

What if we stayed in that area for a night or two then go further East and see the North shoreline of Lake Michigan or maybe Mackinac Island then head back home.
